Unexpected Sea Day

February 3, 2024 - As we prepared to leave Tauranga on Friday evening, the captain made an announcement that due to the weather forecast — for wind and ocean swells - we would not be docking at the port in Napier on Saturday as it is a narrow channel that would be difficult to safely navigate in those conditions. So we spent the day at sea, heading towards Wellington for arrival on Sunday morning. We missed out on our wine tour in Napier, but we’ve certainly been drinking enough wine onboard, including many from New Zealand, so we really can’t complain. We fully expect there to be many more changes to our itinerary in the next 3 months, so we are just accepting what comes, and enjoying the experience — recognizing how blessed we are to see whatever parts of the world we get to. And, a side benefit of having the extra sea day was getting caught up on the blog! Wishing all reading this well.
